our story

The Beginning

September 27th, 2015:

We met while studying at the University of California, Santa Cruz during the fall of 2015. I was in my second year, Jon was going into his fourth year of college, and we were both working as caterers on campus. I remember the day I met Jon and knowing that we would definitely become friends.

Santa Cruz & The Bay

October 1st, 2016:

We started dating in the fall of 2016 after Sheena asked Jon out. Jon was finishing up a couple of classes at UCSC and I was in my third year of college. We enjoyed all things Santa Cruz from sailing Monterey bay to hiking in the redwoods and enjoying a warm cup at our favorite coffee spots. Jon moved to San Jose after graduation to start his first biotech job and I moved in with him and some of our best friends after graduating in 2018. We created many traditions that continue today such as our annual summer camping trip to Sequoia National Park and our March birthday month trips!

San Diego

October 15th, 2019:



After living the Bay Area for over 4 years we were both ready to return home to Southern California and continue building our life together closer to family. We picked San Diego as our new home and adopted our best friend, Kato. We shared so many amazing moments those two years with friends and family and know that San Diego will always feel like our home. 




Kauai

November 24th, 2021:



Jon was looking for a career change from pharmaceutical research to green energy and found a company doing really cool research growing algae for biofuel. The company had positions in San Diego and Kauai but was only hiring out of their Kauai lab. Jon got the job and we decided to move our little family to Kauai! We weren’t too sure about leaving our new home and family, but it has turned out to be the adventure of a lifetime.

The Proposal

March 27th, 2022

:

Jon proposed in Hanalei Bay, our favorite spot on the North shore of Kauai. Jon planned the surprise proposal with Sheena’s best friend Julia who flew from Germany to be part of the special day. After waiting hours for the rain to stop, Jon asked Sheena to marry him.
